Chadwicks is Ireland’s leading builders’ merchant company with With 50 stores and over 1,300 employees across the country.
A huge part of Chadwick’s success is their personable relationship with customers. This became difficult if not downright impossible during the pandemic.
Chadwicks needed a way to keep that human connection with the trade and their team without being ‘boring’.
For this project we developed Under Construction presented by comedian Fred Cooke and media personality Aidan Power. The weekly podcast delivered 30 minutes of trade talk, tips and banter just for tradespeople as they drove between jobs. It was presented in style of a major commercial radio breakfast show and was a huge success.

This podcast features a lot of very unique listener interaction features. This included artwork for each episode displaying a ‘Photo of the Week’ showing work a listener was particularly proud of. We also had Whatsapp voice notes and a weekly quiz.
Guests included Chadwicks staff from branches all over the country who were all recorded remotely. So were our hosts, who were in Dublin, Athlone and Kerry! This particular audience are time and attention poor so interviews were precious edited to keep them short, snappy and keep the attention.
The podcast also featured a custom audio branding package, where key Chadwicks messages were inserted between segments which sounded more like radio jingles than advertising.
