The Adapt Centre specialises in research and the development of AI in Ireland. Coordinated by Trinity College, they partner with universities all across the country.
Adapt wanted to share current work and developments in AI among their community.
However, while researchers are intelligence rich, they are time poor.
Travelling for seminars or reading research papers is difficult.
A podcast makes the best use of time. It enables researchers and professors to share their work at a time which best suits their schedules. The laid-back interview format allows colleagues around the country to listen and get developments in a detailed but relaxed way. It’s a much more enjoyable and effective format than ‘white papers’ of yesteryear.
The podcast also serves to cement the Adapt Centre as a thought-leader in AI internationally. It builds a library of quality information for funders or investors and interested members of the public.
The Adapt Radio podcast is fronted by science writer and Irish Times contributor Claire O’Connell. Highly regarded in the sector, she brings knowledge and passion for AI to the podcast.
During term, she speaks with researchers around the country on all facets of AI. During holidays, she introduces webinars or keynote speeches from the Adapt Centre which have been specially adapted for podcast format.
The podcast is available the first Monday of each month on Apple, Spotify and YouTube.
“We’ve done several series now of ADAPT Radio and it just gets better. Thank you for making everyone feel relaxed and sounding great on the finished episodes. It has really helped spread the word of our work around the global science community.”

Host Claire O’Connell was supplied with simple cost-effective equipment which delivers broadcast quality audio from her base. Claire also received training in podcast presenting and has taken to it like a seasoned professional.
A DustPod engineer is online for every recording meaning Clarie can relax and concentrate on her guest.
All recordings are conducted remotely with researchers in universities not just across Ireland but many guests from the EU and USA also.
Key-note speeches are recorded on-site which again use simple cost-effective equipment but delivers broadcast quality audio. Webinar material is edited to remove references to screens/slides etc so it works well purely as an audio piece.
The project is delivered as audio podcast to Apple/Spotify and animated video to YouTube. The simplicity and ubiquity of YouTube has been particularly successful on this project.
